Letters Homeis an award winning short film created by Barry War Museum member Jacqueline (Jaye) Swift.
The Welsh Borderers were at Beaumont Hamel fighting alongside the Newfoundlanders on 1st July 1916.
This short film follows the last moments of three Borderers all from different backgrounds, and what they write in which could be their final letters home.
Letters Home, written by Jaye Swift, initially started its life as a short play in 2012 at Pontardawe ScriptSlam and went on to win the audience award. Jaye adapted it to a screenplay which reached the semi-finals of the London Underwire Festival, and was chosen for a rehearsed reading at the London Screenwriters Festival.
In the spring of 2014 Jaye, along with co-producer Oli Curry decided to bring the film to life by producing it themselves.
In 2017 Letters Home won Best Welsh Short Film
at the Cardiff International Film Festival.
